The K18INKH is an 18 000 BTU inverter split that cools and heats a bedroom or medium lounge. Made by Kelon Aircon, the Kelon 18000 BTU Inverter Air Conditioner suits homeowners, small businesses and farms. Solar Panel Energy supplies it from Vanderbijlpark across South Africa, so medium rooms stay comfortable through Highveld summers.
Kelon 18000 BTU Inverter Air Conditioner Strengths
- Heating capacity of 5100 W covers cold Highveld winter nights.
- Low fan setting runs indoors at a quiet 36 dB(A).
- Outdoor unit carries a 3 year warranty.
Its inverter compressor varies speed with the load instead of cycling on and off. That steady draw makes Kelon air conditioning easier to carry on battery backup.

Running Air Conditioning 18000 BTU On Solar
Each install needs the indoor wall unit and the outdoor unit, joined by refrigerant piping fitted on site. The wall bracket and piping kit aren’t listed as included, so plan for both.

Expect a 1555 W draw when cooling, on what should be a single phase AC supply. That 18000 btu aircon power consumption, plus start-up load, sizes the Deye or Luxpower hybrid inverter.
Our solar and battery calculator estimates the battery hours you need. Check whether a Luxpower 6.5kW and 15kWh combo carries it overnight before you buy. Whole-home 6.5kW solar packages are another option to size against this load.
On backup, keep it near 24°C so the compressor ramps down and battery runtime stretches. It needs AC power from the grid or a hybrid inverter, so it won’t run straight off panels.
Measure the room before choosing air conditioning 18000 btu capacity, because this size suits a medium room. A unit too small for the space runs flat out and empties the battery bank faster. Open-plan spaces are better served by the Kelon 24000 BTU inverter aircon.
Single bedrooms and studies suit the Kelon 12000 BTU inverter split instead. Every split and solar aircon we list sits in our wider Air Conditioner category.
Best Use Cases For This Size
- Homeowners cooling a main bedroom or medium lounge.
- Small businesses running offices, consulting rooms or shops.
- Farms cooling a farmhouse room or site office.
Homes replacing a failed unit gain heating and cooling from one 18000 btu air conditioner. Areas served include Pretoria, Johannesburg, Alberton and Vereeniging.
Warranty Compliance And Trust
Cover lasts 1 year on the indoor unit and 3 years on the outdoor unit. NRCS compulsory specification VC 8055 covers the electrical safety of air conditioners sold in South Africa. Under VC 9008, every air conditioner also needs a SANS 941 energy efficiency label.
Refrigerant piping and gas charging must be done by a SAQCC Gas registered refrigeration practitioner. SANS 10142-1 governs the electrical circuit, and a registered person issues the Certificate of Compliance. Those rules sit in the Electrical Installation Regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Solar Panel Energy offers nationwide delivery in 2 to 5 working days. Sasolburg and Meyerton are covered from our Vanderbijlpark branch too. EFT, card, cash and PayFast payments are accepted.
