This warranty policy explains how long each Solar Panel Energy product is covered and how to claim. It applies to homeowners, businesses, farms, installers and developers who buy inverters, batteries, panels or air conditioners. Manufacturer warranty periods depend on the product and brand.
The exact term for each product is confirmed on its product page and on your quote. Deye, the manufacturer of our top-selling inverters, lists each model on the official Deye website.
The manufacturer warranty covers manufacturing defects and faulty parts. Each warranty is issued by the manufacturer or its South African importer, not by Solar Panel Energy. We help you lodge claims with the warranty holder and supply the invoice and serial number they need. If an importer stops trading, its extended warranty may no longer be enforceable. Consumer Protection Act rights, set out below, still apply in that case.

Inverters and lithium batteries must be installed by a registered electrician. That electrician must issue a Certificate of Compliance under SANS 10142-1. Loss, damage, fire or injury caused by another installer’s wiring or alterations is not our responsibility. Claims may be refused where a product was installed without a valid Certificate of Compliance. Full liability terms appear in our website disclaimer page.
Under the Consumer Protection Act, every product carries a 6-month implied warranty of quality. An implied warranty is a legal promise that goods are safe, working and free of defects. Defective goods returned within 6 months can be repaired, replaced or refunded, at your choice. Repaired goods that fail again within 3 months must be replaced or refunded.
Change-of-mind returns follow our refund and returns policy, with a 7-day return period. No clause in this warranty policy limits your Consumer Protection Act rights.
Manufacturing defects and faulty parts are covered for the full term listed on your invoice or quote.
No, lightning and power surge damage is excluded, so a surge protection device is worth fitting at installation.
Lithium batteries carry 5 to 10 years of cover, depending on the brand and model you buy.
